Driveway paving and replacement
Our asphalt driveway paving service covers grade and pave, peel and pave and full rebuilds. Guelph quotes note any rock removal as its own line.

Guelph driveways and sealing
Kitchener Asphalt Paving Pros paves, seals and repairs asphalt driveways in Guelph for homeowners, landlords near the University of Guelph and businesses in the Hanlon area. We drive in from Kitchener on Highway 7 and have been paving between the two cities since 2013.
Guelph is its own municipality outside Waterloo Region, so the City of Guelph alone issues entrance permits for its roads. It is also the largest Canadian city that relies almost entirely on groundwater for drinking water, drawn from the dolostone bedrock that sits close to the surface in parts of town.
Those two facts shape how we work here. We probe for rock before we quote an excavation, and we seal only with coal-tar-free products and keep runoff away from storm drains.
Guelph services
Guelph customers mostly book new driveways, sealing, seamless repairs and cleaning. Each card links to the service page with the full process and price ranges.

Driveway sealing in Guelph is done with water-based or solvent asphalt sealers, never coal tar. See our coal-tar-free driveway sealcoating page for drying times and the 2 to 3 year schedule.
For sunken spots and failed patches, infrared asphalt repair heats the old surface and blends in new hot mix with no cold seam. Most areas are drivable within an hour.
Hot-water asphalt power washing lifts oil and grime before sealing so the new coat bonds. A typical driveway costs $150 to $350.
Neighbourhoods
We pave across Guelph, and driveway width and age change sharply from the old core to the south end. These four groups cover most of our Guelph work.
Older brick and limestone homes on narrow lots, many with single-width driveways squeezed beside the house. Expect hand work, a smaller roller and careful grading away from old foundations.
Streets near the campus mix long-time owners with rental houses. Parking pads see heavy daily turning, so we keep the base and compaction at full spec.
Two-storey homes from the 1980s and 1990s on the southwest side, near the Hanlon Expressway and the Speed River valley. Many driveways are due for replacement, and lots near the river can need a conservation authority check.
South-end and east-end subdivisions with wide double driveways. The newer streets often need a builder base coat finished, while the older ones are ready for a first overlay or sealcoat.
Local ground
In parts of Guelph, dolostone bedrock sits close enough to the surface that a full driveway excavation can hit rock. Since a rebuild digs 250 to 350 mm deep, we probe at the site visit so the quote reflects what is really underground.
Small ledges are broken out with a breaker on the skid steer. Where rock is widespread, we raise the finished grade slightly or shape the base over it rather than chase depth.
Bedrock does not drain, so water collects on top of it and freezes under the driveway. We slope the Granular A base so water runs off the rock toward the street or a lawn edge.
Rock removal is shown as its own line on the quote. If we find more rock than the probes showed, we stop and price the change before going further.

Groundwater
Guelph's tap water comes from wells in the bedrock aquifer under the city, so anything that soaks into the ground or runs down a storm drain matters more here. The City of Guelph groundwater page explains how the supply works.
Landlords
Landlords with student houses in Old University and the south end usually want work done between semesters. Fall classes start in September and winter classes in January, so late spring and late summer are the natural paving windows.
A rental driveway is usually a one-day job, then cars stay off for 48 to 72 hours. A few days' gap at lease turnover is enough.
Multi-car pads get 150 to 200 mm of compacted Granular A and 60 mm of HL3. Any extra width is checked against the property's zoning first.
Crack filling in spring and a sealcoat every 2 to 3 years keep a busy rental driveway out of the full replacement bracket for longer.
Service area
Guelph is 30 to 35 minutes from our Kitchener yard along Highway 7. We cover the whole city, from the Hanlon Expressway business park and the south end to the Ward, Exhibition Park and the east end.
Site visits are booked within 2 to 3 business days. To keep travel efficient, we group Guelph paving, sealing and repair jobs onto shared days, which is also how we fit in smaller repairs.
The Hanlon Expressway is Highway 6, a provincial highway, so an entrance onto it falls under the Ministry of Transportation rather than the City.
FAQ
These are the Guelph questions we hear most, from permits to rock.
Yes, a City of Guelph entrance permit is needed for a new entrance or a wider curb cut onto a City road. Submit the entrance permit application before any boulevard work, and allow 1 to 3 months for the curb cut.
Most Guelph driveways cost $4.00 to $11.00 per square foot before HST, depending on base work. A double driveway replacement of about 800 to 1,000 square feet usually runs $4,800 to $8,000, plus any rock removal.
Yes, small repairs in Guelph are grouped onto days when our crews are already in the city. Residential patching starts at $350 and crack filling typically runs $250 to $600.
Possibly, in parts of the city where dolostone is shallow. We probe during the site visit and list any rock removal separately on the quote.
No, coal-tar pavement sealants can no longer be sold anywhere in Canada after December 31, 2025. All sealers we use on Guelph driveways are coal-tar-free.
